«Hof zu Wil» in the old town

A historical exploration tour

Far beyond the borders of the city and region of Wil, the «Hof zu Wil» is one of the most valuable cultural assets. It has experienced a lot in its 800-year history: 500 years of abbots and almost 200 years of beer brewing have left their mark.

But the rest of the old town of the Aebtestadt Wil also has a lot to offer. A walk through the alleys or the view in front of the St. Nicholas Church will inspire you.

Wiler Tower

Wooden tower with panoramic view

Climb the unique wooden structure and enjoy the magnificent view. The Wiler landmark, visible from far and wide, can only be reached on foot via the marked paths. Access to the starting points Oelberg, Grueben, Langegg/Turm Hofberg or Städeli is provided by the Wil city bus. From the bus stop, the footpaths to the tower are signposted (approx. 10-15 minutes' walk).

Due to renovation work, the Wiler Aussichtsturm will be closed to the public from 30 August 2021 to approx. 1 October 2021.

Fischingen Monastery with Brewery

From baroque to beer

Culinary delights and culture are as much a part of life at the Benedictine monastery in Faschingen as the art of brewing. The monastery is also a place of tranquillity and the starting point for beautiful hikes and walks. But don't forget to visit the impressive monastery church.

Hörnli - Zurich Highlands

Grandiose view as far as the Säntis mountain range

Those who don't shy away from the hike or bike tour to the Hörnli will be rewarded with an all-round panorama in a class of its own. Depending on the starting point, the ascent takes between 40 minutes and 2 hours on foot. The hike is easy and leads through forests and meadows. The Hörnli mountain inn welcomes you at the summit.

Cider India - the Thurgau

A manifold region

Wide views over the water and the mountains within reach: on the southern shore of Lake Constance, the landscape of the Thurgau spreads out on gentle hills. A terrain as if modelled for cycling. Families love the campsites right by the water. Nature lovers go exploring off the beaten track. And with its many unusual hotels, Thurgau shows how modern and innovative such a rural region can be.
